Q: How do I apply for Housing?

A: You can print off an application online or pick one up from our office. Please refer to our application page.

Q: How long will it take to be placed into an available home?

A: This really depends on your family size, requirements and what housing inventory becomes available.

Q: Are there any vacancies that are available right now?

A: There are currently no housing units available.

Q: How do I qualify for the affordable housing? 

A: Depending on what you’re applying for, Urban Native Housing is 25% of your gross income,  Apartment complex is 30% of your gross income and Claydon Villa is a flat rate per month. 

Q: How much will my rent be?

A: Rent is normally determined by your total household income.

Q: Are pets allowed?

A: Unfortunately, pets are not permitted.

Q: How does the Society determine who they will rent to?

A: Our decisions are based on a ‘needs basis’ and matched with housing that becomes available at the time.

Q: Will my application be given priority if I am in an emergency situation?

A: If you are at risk, the Society may expedite the application process, depending on specific circumstances.

Q: What happens if my income level changes?

A: Any changes to income levels must immediately be reported to our office.

Q: Can I share my rental?

A: Renting to others is not permitted.

Q: I’ve recently submitted my application and am wondering about next steps. Is there a way to check on the status of my application?

A: Applications are processed immediately and usually placed on a waiting list. It’s important to update your contact details if any information has changed. You may contact our office on a monthly basis and we can update you as to the status of your application. 

Q: How many applications do you typically have on your waiting list?

A: This number may vary. The Society usually has between 50 and 100 active applications on hand, at any given time.
